Volunteers

Northwest Incident Support volunteers function in two separate groups.  One group is made up of chaplains, the other is made up of incident support officers.

The Chaplain's Role

NWIS chaplains are carefully recruited and trained to offer a ministry of comfort and care to victims and their families as well as to emergency responders.  NWIS chaplains are required to have background checks and meet rigorous training expectations before certification.

Support Team's Role

NWIS team members are carefully recruited and trained to respond to long term fire and law enforcement scenes.  They are trained in use of the support apparatus to provide much needed rehabilitation and respite for on scene emergency responders as well as victims' families.

NWIS works alongside the Red Cross, as well as the Department of Emergency Management to assist displaced individuals at structure fires and natural disasters.
